Reference: PR-01
Duration: 2 Day(s)

DO-178B, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification describes the requirements for certification of software used in airborne systems. Owing to its non-prescriptive nature, implementing DO-178B is a significant challenge for any organisation that does not have prior experience.

This course focuses on explaining the purpose of DO-178B and identifying how organisations can achieve its objectives at each of the Design Assurance Levels. Each of the required process documents are discussed in detail with practical guidance given on how to draft, review and implement them.

Using extensive industry experience, our consultants will explain how successful certification to D)-178B can be achieved.

  • The history of DO-178B
  • The goals of DO-178B
  • The DO-178B processes
  • The DO-178B Design Assurance Levels (DAL)
  • The objectives to be achieved at each DAL
  • How to develop a DO-178B document set
  • How to implement DO-178B on a project
  • What DO-178B does not address
  • The impact of implementing DO-178B

Who should attend

Engineers who need to develop to the DO-178B standard.
Managers who need to lead a DO-178B project.
Quality Assurance personnel who need to ensure that software adheres to the DO-178B standard.

An understanding of the avionics software development lifecycle and artefacts is recommended in order to attend this course.
